Statistically speaking

We are already 38 days into the new year. Here are some interesting statistics on my daily life so far:

In the 38 days of 2008:
  • The Husband has spent 29 days out of town.
  • I have helped kids with homework for about 23 hours.
  • I have exercised 33 days.
  • It has snowed once.
  • It has rained six times.
  • I have done approximately 62 loads of laundry.
  • I have cooked four actual meals (see number one for questions on this).
  • I have made eight batches of chocolate chip oatmeal cookies.
  • I have read three-and-a-half books.
  • I have spent 15 hours in church.
  • I have not had one. single. nap.
  • I have seen three new movies, and one old favorite.
  • I have had two house guests.
  • I have written 23 blog posts (not counting this one).
  • I have stared at my bangs and debated whether to grow or cut for about 4.6 hours (not in one sitting, mind you).
  • I have driven kids to 20 lessons/sports activities.
  • I have cleaned out the fridge once.
  • I have helped in three different classrooms for a total of eight times.
  • I have celebrated one child's birthday.
  • I have been to the grocery store about 25 times.
  • I have been hit on once (the only interesting one of all the trips to the grocery store).
  • I have been in two swaps. [Hi, Laurie! Yours is going in the mail today!]
  • I have transcribed 30 interviews.
  • I have fixed the telephone and internet twice.
  • I have thought about fixing the toilet once and reconsidered.
  • I have had kids home sick on three different days (and still counting, thanks to Hannah).
And I wonder why I'm tired?

Not anymore.

My reverence and awe for you continues. 28 out of 39 single parent days is a lot. I would love to have known how many hours you spent doing ALL the bear requirements, too ;)

I am so sorry about being a single parent for that long, man that is rough, is it going to get any better for the next month? If it was me I would be watching a whole lot more movies if I was alone that much. Good luck, you are one strong lady.

You've done A LOT on your own. But I would've definitely squeezed in a nap somewhere!

25 times at the grocery store??? That is crazy! Are you trying to get hit on?!

Gosh I'm tired just reading that. Isn't it nice, though, to be able to look at all your accomplishments?

I'm just glad you posted 23 times so that I could know exactly what you are talking about when you list those numbers.

Only 20 lessons? What are you, some kind of slacker mom?

33 workouts deserves at least one nap. Perhaps skip a workout in favor of a nap? As for the husband being gone, i'm there too. I think you've made more dinner than I. I'm on 2.

You have likely squandered 700 hours on your lame-O blog.

Send some cookies my way...yum! You definitely deserve a nap!

Wow, that list sure puts it in perspective huh? You're one busy little gal. I need to know your secret. Seriously! You are amazing. And thanks for the supportive words on my blog today.

What a great list. Way to go on working out so much! What does your husband do that he travels so much?

Don't fix the toilet. Let someone else deal with that. =)

I'm trying to think of anything BUT your chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. And I can't. Sounds divine.

BTW, I finally used the Amazon Gift Card. I'm getting a subscription to Rachael Ray's magazine. I'm excited. Thx so much again!

You are amazing Stie. Only missing five days of working out! What are the 30 interviews? I also want to know how many hours you've spent blogging and reading blogs. I know I need to cut back.

You deserve a weekend in NYC!!

I never made it past the 28 days. That alone would have killed me....

I better go take a nap! I'm glad you got those cookies in, were they for you????

Man...you I understand why you are tired...I would have slipped into a coma by now.

Will, "The Husband" be home for Valentine's Day? I hope so :)

Thank goodness you're not pregnant (you're not, right? Just kidding!), then you would be even more tired! Hopefully the next 38 days includes more naps, less laundry, and more time with the hubby home!

How many days til Sista Weekend? You have earned them all (not to mention at least $5000 spending money for NYC)!

I cry when my husband leaves for ONE day let alone 28! Oh, that has to hurt and be sooo hard!
At least there's great lovin' when he gets back! Am I right?

Thank-you for your many blog posts. Now please pass the cookies and post the recipe. I need a weekend splurge.

you definitely deserve alot more naps, movies...and maybe a few spa days...figuring all that out would make me depressed.

It all sounds about right except for the 29 days out of town for Josh. What the??? You get the prize for that. FOR SURE.

I'm still stuck on the first one. So been there, done that and it sucks. And yes, Taco Bell was our mainstay in them days.

Stumbled across your blog... not sure from where... but here I am. Wanted to let my presence be known (as to not be a stalker!)

I have enjoyed reading a few of your posts. Very entertaining! I will visit again!

For me it usually comes down to: "Should I update my blog or take a nap?" I usually choose the latter. Boy, the stories I could tell if I never got tired.

Thank you for fitting these entertaining blog posts into your busy, busy schedule!

Can you hear Bette Midler singing off in the distance "Did you ever know you were my hero...?"

What's with the interview thing?

And the other I was wracking my brain for a cool list post like you do. I couldn't come up with any, so I'm going back in your archives and finding one to copy!

I want to know how your Rain Man-like mind assembles all those stats.

I could be 347 days into the year and I probably wouldn't have cleaned out the fridge. I wait for things to grow legs and walk out by themselves in protest. (really. My husband who NEVER goes anywhere does those kind of things.) Isn't it funny how the grass is greener...I wish he would go out of town so I didn't have to cook, I could read more and watch movies!

I can't imagine my hubby being gone that long. I've realized I would badly suffer as a single parent. You are awesome. No naps??

Cara @ Gardenview Cottage said...

Do you keep a daily list? I am so impressed! And I think you should take a daily nap to help you with #'s 2,3,6,10,18 and 23. Yep - you need a nap and a massage!

D-dawg said...

WOW. You are so impressive with the exercising. I want to be like you. These are great stats. Keep it up!

Wow, you are such a busy gal. Youn know sometimes it's nice to write down everything you have accomplished recently and to remember how amazing you are for accomplishing it!! I love that you have incorporated cooking into your website. I too have done the same and it's sooooo fun!!! Hope things get easier!
