A bit of complaining, if I may

Let's just say you've had a really bad week:

All the traveling your husband has done the last several months has caught up to you.

You've got severe pain in one of your feet and you have no idea why.

Your skin is bleeding, it's so dry. And you moisturize ALL.THE.TIME.

You've been a really good girl and somehow managed to gain four pounds overnight.

You clean your house every day, and still it is a mess.

You foolishly cut your own bangs and they look absolutely horrible.

You cry for an hour on the phone to your husband about how frustrated and tired you are.

And as if that all wasn't enough?

YOU WAKE UP AND TODAY IS A SNOW DAY.

Heaven help me. Something has gotta give.

Ahhh, bummer! Maybe your kids will do something magnificient today that you never would have seen had they been at school:) Try to have a good day...I enjoy reading your blog!

Looks like Stie is having a bad blog day!

Stie... cheer up! Your name is in lights...you are famous! It is going to be a great day!!!

Well, almost. I shared my "baking blunder" on my post today. It was ALL about you!

I am sure all 3 members of my vast readership will enjoy it though!!! I hope you will too!

Sorry about the Snow Day! Can't wait for SRING!!!

No WAY is it a snow day. I hurt for you all the way here. So does that mean local teenage babysitters are also on a snow day. If it were me, I'd call one up and go sit in a dark movie theater all by myself. Or does the snow prevent that?

NO WAY is it a snow day!

I hate it when that happens! When the hubby returns, go treat yourself to a mani-pedi or something...you deserve it!

I hope your snow day isn't coming north! We've already had 3 this year and we'll be making them up in June, but that seems so far away! I think you need to do a little internet shopping and find yourself something pretty and happy to brighten your day--a little retail therapy!

Lisa-Marie said...

I agree. Call a babysitter and go to a movie. Hang in there. Your bloggy friends love you!

So sorry, Stie! I feel guilty for seeing your husband more recently than you. I wish we had just ONE snow day this year, though.

poor thing! take a bubble bath while eating chocolate and telling yourself, tomorrow is another day!
hang in there!!!

I hear ya, sister. We've had one too many snow days around here. And MLK days. And President's Day. And teacher break days. And why should the kids go to tschool days. And well, I just feel ya.

I'm at Robyn's helping out for a while and have been going down memory lane of what it's like to have babies. Sounds like you're due for some much needed rest. Put up your sore feet, pretend you like your house messy, give in to the four pounds and eat some really good chocolate, laugh about the hair situation, and enjoy the snow! Remember we all love you!!

By the way...like any of us believe the messy house part!!

I feel you re the bleeding skin despite constant moisturizing. My hands improved some when I switched from washing my hands in the sink to using a moisturizing alcohol sanitizer, but STILL...knuckles are bleeding here!

UGH. Can I complain too??
1) My mouth STILL hurts like H-E-double-hockey-sticks, and it's been a WEEK since they pulled the teeth.
2) I have hardly eaten (refer to #1) for a week, and I have actually GAINED weight.
3) It is friggin' COLD outside, and we haven't had even ONE decent snowfall all winter long.

But hey, look at it this way. Tomorrow's Friday!

Would it make you feel better or worse that I think we're having the same kind of week?

BIG HUG!

you so needed Bunko last night! I am sorry for your woes...

Good thing February is almost over...March HAS to better! Your version of a messy house is probably everyone else's version of clean, though. My mom's here now, so mine has stayed pretty clean...just wait until next week, though! Hang in there!

Ugh. You are right. That would definately qualify for worst day EVER!!!! :( I hope it turns around!

Lauren said...

I agree with Kelly and Lisa-Marie...hire a babysitter and run screaming into the night, I mean er,... take some alone time for yourself.

I am so sorry things are so lousy, I understand the comment about you clean all of the time and the house is still a mess. It is maddening, isn't it?

Kristin said...

In my book this would be a cookie making day, hope things get better soon, it is so hard to be a single parent, is the end in sight soon?

Lauren said...

Oh, and the weight gain...I have just given up on losing weight, altogether. *sigh*

raehan said...

Yes, you may complain.

Hug.

But if it helps:
The four pounds are water weight.
The bangs will grow back.
The sun will come out.....someday....

I say, overindulge the kids with television and movies today and take a nice nap. Some days you just hae to do what you gotta do.

Bridget said...

Oh, Stie. I am so sorry. Nothing like kids home all day to take you from bad to worse. Tomorrow WILL be better. Your bangs will grow. I made the mistake once of having Nathan cut my hair. I still can't believe I did that. I was so desperate. He only cut about 4 inches too much. I tried not to cry and make him feel bad.

Amanda said...

Oh, Stie. Pop a movie in for the kiddos, get some diet coke and lock yourself in the bathroom. This to shall pass.

Here's to a better tomorrow!

Jessica said...

Seriously, nothing makes a day go South for me faster than undeserved weight gain. Totally totally sorry!

Queen B said...

Oooh. I hope you were able to spend the snow day in your pjs.

So sorry about the weight gain...that is the worst.

The bangs will be better in a few days. You can blame your not tidy house on the snow day.

Tomorrow will be better!!

I found you through Celia Fae. Don't all blogs lead to Celia?

We are having a snow day today also! It's from freezing rain though and we'll be making up the days at the end of the year. The kids can't even go out and play in it because it's too wet! We've completely overdosed on television, movies and computer games. We'll all be crazy by Monday because I have a sinking feeling tomorrow will be a snow day as well. Add to this a husband with the flu and you get my happy life.

Sorry, I don't mean to be depressing, it just feels so good to get it out sometimes.

When everyone is healthy here I am definitely trying out your delicious looking oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. They look super good!

You have my sympathy...

I am so sorry Stie. Since it is a snow day have the kids clean. I know it sounds better in theory. If I make a big batch of cookies and eat the dough and gain 4 to 5 pounds would that brighten your day. At least you would be closer to your quest.
I had that week last week. Just think you can pass it to someone else next week. Cheer Up I still Love you, bangs and all!!

So sorry! If it makes you feel any better...I don't clean and it's still a mess. :0) I'm just kidding, I was hoping you'd get a little giggle. :0)
Since you've already gained 4 pounds anyway...just go make some more of those yummy cookies you posted about and eat ALL of the batter until you are sick. :0)

Hang in there friend. You do your complaining for like, 4 1/2 minutes and in no time you are back to the ol' happy you.

1. Not having him there is rough- no advice.
2. Plantar fascitis? Pilates for a week instead.
3. Yep, I know...the cuts hurt. Bag Balm EVERY NITE!
4. ??? you KNOW i am no help there, even though I am on Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem and Hebalife all at once.
5. Hire a house keeper, I did. it's heaven and it's helpful!
6. You always give yourself good bangs, just wait for a week, you'll get used to them
7. Good job for connecting with him.
8. Snow day= curl up with your book (now that you will have a house keeper) by the fire, and RELAX with the Bag Balm all over your cracked hands and feet.

TAKE A BREAK!!!

The universe owes you one awesome week in June sometime. Really. Start looking forward to it now!

Hope the kids are back in school today {mine are out all week for February week so that part didn't get quite as much of my sympathy :)}

I can empathize.
I cut my own bangs a few months ago even though ten years ago I discovered I can't wear bangs. I had to discover this truth all over again, sadly.
I swear all I do is clean but my house is always a mess.
AND, someone at my book club implied that I had let myself go since I am growing a gut. I AM PREGNANT!
I'm sorry, I have no answers, I'm still searching.

Hang in there, Stie. I could've written this post myself. Except for the part about the feet, thank goodness, I hate it when my feet hurt.
Sometimes, or all of the time, it feels like all I do is work around here, and I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who cries on the phone to her husband, especially when he is supposed to be working.
I hear ya on the snow days too, enough is enough! Especially since Jan. and Feb. are chock full o' every other Monday and Friday off.
Thinking of you, and hoping you have a great weekend, interpeep!

The weight gain thing. I have major issues with the scale not working with me when I've been good. I step on and feel like the number should match what's in my head and all the work I've done. Scales, Schmales!
I hope the next day is better... I'm going to read the post above this now! I'm soo behind on my blogging! Faith has been teething and it's NOT pretty!

Stie sorry that you lost your good mood. I have a hard time finding mine DAILY. And my husband is home every day (which actually could explain why I can't find my good mood....).
As for the snow day- broken record here- you should've stayed in San Diego.
But I feel for you. Really I do....

Mique said...

Except..I've never gotten 45 comments. That should make you feel a teensy better. 45 atta girls would make my day.

Ditto on Becky's comment about your feet. I have PF in my right foot. Very painful. It hurts to be on your feet too long, but it will actually be worse after sitting for awhile & then standing up or 1st thing in the morning when you get up. There are some good stretches, though. See a doc if it doesn't ease up. If it becomes severe PF, it could mean cortisone shots in the tendon on the bottom of your foot...talk about a bad day!
Sorry to be so long-winded...and sorry about your day! You need a holiday.
